At daybreak on Thursday, Oct 19, our flotilla of 18 left Hammond IN for the Joliet IL wall. The days go fast - going through locks, passing freighters, dodging logs. The weather has been mild and banks are beautifully lined with fall colors. Every now and again bald eagles fly overhead. We are meeting many friendly people along the way. Here’s a summary to date – photos follow.
Oct 20: Joliet Wall to Ottawa, IL (stay: Heritage Harbor marina)
Oct 21: Ottawa, IL to Henry, IL (stay: Henry Harbor)
Oct 22: Henry, IL to Peoria, IL (stay: IVY marina)
Oct 23: Peoria, IL to Beardstown, IL (stay: Bar Island anchorage)
And that brings us up-to-date for now!
Fair winds,
Amy
