Let’s begin by reporting we both feel much better! The colds are gone, and we do not notice others coughing around us much these days.
Our non-tourist days fall into a typical pattern: Up early for breakfast; 10k-step walk to and around the KLCC park via the sky walk; relaxed time by the pool, fitness center, and sauna; read; dinner; after-dinner walk for another 5k steps. No complaints. We are starting to see regulars on our walks - it is a friendly country.
Wednesday we mixed things up a bit by heading to the Batu Caves after breakfast (key to go early for cool weather and fewer crowds). Internet highlights about the Batu Caves follow:
- Famous limestone hill and Hindu shrine complex
- Known for its massive golden statue
- Colorful 272 steps leading to the main cave temple, and ancient caves
- Attracts pilgrims and tourists; observe monkeys (note: monkeys were a highlight for Rob. They remind him on the monkey (Pancho) we met in Manzanillo)
We hiked up and down the 272 steps, amused by all of the monkeys! We then headed over to Brickstown, aka Little India, for a look around. Late in the morning, activity was a little quiet, but we got a good feel for the area.
Tomorrow (Friday, Jan 22) is our full last day in KL. Saturday we stop in Ipoh for a few days before spending about 2 weeks in Penang, aka George Town.
