One of Georgia’s 4 Golden Isles. On March 27 we traveled from St. Augustine FL to Jekyll Island GA (84.6SM). Jekyll Island is a state park, and a favorite stop primarily due the availability of courtesy bikes and network of well-maintained bike paths. We were able to explore the island on “chamber-of-commerce days” and get some much needed exercise. This blog is dedicated to our 3 days there. Highlights:
· Bike paths – wide paved and off-road
· Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful Jekyll Island Harbor marina staff
· Courtesy golf carts and bikes
· Sunsets
· Driftwood Beach
· Fried shrimp
· Historic district (The Jekyll Island Club cottages)
· Moe, 19-year-old marina cat
· First alligator sighting (Rob found it)
There are many more gems that we did not get to – Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Wanderer Memory Trail, Island Museum, historic tours, etc. We hope to come back to Jekyll Island some day.

Moe, the 19-year-old marina cat. Originally living on a boat, the owner took Moe with him when he moved to a house on the island, but Moe kept returning to the marina. He doesn’t see or hear well. He does welcome a scratch on the head.
